AMI

Organiser: AMI

There is someone near you who is suffering from loneliness. They may be one of the 11,000 older people in Oxfordshire who is regularly lonely or they may be a younger disabled person who’d like help to get out to an activity. Loneliness can seriously damage your health: research shows that a lack of social connections is as dangerous as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. And it can make you feel invisible, even though there are often neighbours living nearby who would happily offer some company. Ami makes it easy to volunteer to visit a lonely person near you, simply go to www.withami.co.uk and enter your postcode. Brighten someone’s day today.

seAp Advocacy

Organiser: seAp Advocacy

seAp is an independent charity that specialises in the provision of advocacy and related services.  Our high quality independent advocacy services support people, especially those who are most vulnerable in society, to have their voice heard, access their rights and have more control over their lives. We provide advocacy support through well-trained and highly-motivated advocates who enable their clients to express themselves, ensuring that everyone who uses health and social care services can have their voice heard on issues that are important to them. In Oxfordshire we provide the Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) and NHS Complaints Advocacy Service on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council.  We work in partnership with Getting Heard to deliver these services. All our staff are committed to the central advocacy principles of independence, confidentiality and empowerment. We also provide training for advocates, volunteers and professionals who need to understand the role of advocacy in health and social care services. Our Mission Statement - why we are here To provide an advocate to anybody that needs one. To help drive up public service standards by influencing policy-makers.
