Museum of Oxford: Moments & Memories

Organiser: Museum of Oxford

We run outreach reminiscence session to groups of up to 15 older people. Museum objects and photographs are used to stimulate conversation, trigger thoughts and feelings during the one-hour session. We also run Memory Lane, themed reminiscence sessions in the Museum. These are usually in the Museum and are once a month on Thursday afternoons.  Movers and Shakers (reminiscence inspired exercise and movement) runs once a month at the Museum. Tea and Talk is a new opportunity for older people to come to the museum simply for a cup of tea and chat, in a supported friendly environment.   Check for dates on the website or email slevete@oxford.gov.uk

Witney and District Museum

Opened in 1996, the Witney and District Museum is situated in the centre of Witney, along the High Street. The large ground floor gallery houses a long term exhibition, showing the history of Witney and the surrounding area, and highlighting the changes that have taken place over the last 1000 years. Local industries such as Witney Blankets, glove making and brewing are all featured. The Bartlett Taylor Gallery is upstairs and is used for temporary exhibitions. (Ring the museum during opening hours for details of forthcoming exhibitions). Opening times April to October: Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Sundays (phone for information). Wheelchair access to Ground Floor only.
