Bridging the gap

Bridging the Gap is a group aiming, through a series of activities and arts events, to bridge the gap between the young and old in our community in Faringdon. We invite elders to the Faringdon Junior School where we work with the children on current projects, exchanging views and learning from each other. Topics have included: writing biographies, collecting memorabilia and we invited an historian to investigate them, made clay tiles for a mosaic and tiles for the school Peace Garden, made a willow den, published with the school a book called 'Being 11'. Days vary.

Sweet Memories Senior Citizen Club

The Coffee morning is open to all members of the community all around Oxford. Entry includes a raffle ticket, four games of bingo as many cups of tea or coffee as you like, cakes, biscuits, home made scones, pasties and toasted sandwiches. Soup with a roll and hot snacks will be served during the winter months. Themed coffee morning and tea dances are often held. Run quizzes, games, talks from various groups e.g age concern. Every last Thursday in the month there is a sing along with Bernie on the electric organ with all the old songs!
