Sibford Walking Group

Various walks. Meets fortnightly on a Monday. http://thesibfords.org.uk/org/sibford-walkers We meet approximately every two weeks on a Monday for walks in the local area. Gather at Sibford Village Hall for a prompt start at 10am, unless stated otherwise below. Boots are usually essential; poles may be helpful. We try to stay off roads, so there are usually stiles that have to be climbed over. Dogs are welcome provided they are put on a lead when requested; sometimes they may have to be lifted over a stile. Walks starting in 2019 are on: 7, 21 January 4, 18 February 4 March Please contact Sue on 780 365 if you have any queries about one of the walks (for example if the weather looks doubtful) or about the group in general.

Sibfords Society

The Sibfords Society began in 1993 and meetings are held nine times each year. These include external visits during the summer, and talks of historical interest which are held in the Village Hall. We concentrate mainly on the local area but are occasionally happy to invite speakers from further afield. We have an archive room where we preserve evidence for future generations. Free tea, coffee and biscuits are served at all the meetings. Programme for 2019: 21 February - Social evening. 21 March - AGM followed by film Hidden Villages (narrated by Penelope Keith). 18 April - The Battle of Edgehill, with Stephen Barker. 16 May - Queen Victoria - a Life in Portraits, with Gill White. June - Coach trip (TBA) 18 July - Tour of Edgehill. battlefield, with Stephen Barker.
